This beautiful tarot deck was designed by shop-member Aesthel (who also designed the "Vintage Horror Tarot Deck"), and originally was funded by a kickstarter project.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Though the art included in this deck has been created within the precepts of the "Fair Use" clause, in using original images to make new and different art from that of the original, we will refrain from listing the subject's name out of deference to the artist and his estate. In no way has the subject of this deck's estate endorsed this tarot deck. For purposes of reference, we will refer to the subject of this deck as "Mr. Stardust" here.
From the creator of this deck:
I've always had an intense love for Mr. Stardust and Tarot and combining the two of them has been one of my dreams since before I even made my first deck, I just knew I'd need more practice before I could get to the point where I felt skilled enough and comfortable enough to start this project. I started doing layout sketches of the major arcana on the weekend of Necronomicon and showing of my sketches to a few people there was great because I could already see just from that there was interest in this besides my own.
Since then, I have worked on more layout sketches and eventually I finished up the final designs of the entire major arcana and have been working my way through the minor arcana. Each card features a high contrast pop art image of Mr. Stardust over extremely colorful "trippy" backgrounds that draw their themes not only from the meanings of the cards themselves but also the context of Mr. Stardust.
The major arcana includes imagery from all different personas of Mr. Stardust, including film personas like Jareth from Labyrinth and Thomas Jerome Newton from The Man Who Fell to Earth. The minor arcana each focus on a different time or era of Mr. Stardust. The Cups, which symbolize emotions and love, are young beginning Mr. Stardust from his start until 1971 when Hunky Dory was released. The wands symbolize creativity and will, which will be represented by the Ziggy Stardust and Aladdin Sane eras. The coins are symbolizing material body and belongings, showing Mr. Stardust's Thin White Duke era which is around 1975 and 1976. The final suit, the swords which stands for reason, will be shown by modern Mr. Stardust.
